A celebration of music is scheduled for the second Winter Roots Festival, set for Saturday February 15, 2020. The one-day long event will feature concerts, dancing and workshops at five locations in Marquette, including Peter White Public Library, City of Marquette Arts and Culture Center, Hiawatha Fold, NMU Forest Roberts Theatre and Ore Dock Brewing Company.

Ypsilanti-based bluegrass and Americana powerhouse Black Jake and the Carnies will headline the festival, rounding out the day with a concert at Ore Dock Brewing Company at 7:00 pm.

The day kicks off with a 10:30 am musical petting zoo with Yooptone Music; and a community guitar art project at the Arts and Culture Center, followed by 10 more musical programs around town throughout the day.

A $10 Winter Roots Festival button is good for admission to all 12 festival events. Buttons can be purchased at the door or in advance at the Hiawatha Fold (1013 N. Third Street), Peter White Public Library (217 N. Front Street), or the Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center (Gries Hall at NMU). Admission is free for youth ages 12 and under.
