BOOK DONATIONS
Donated items that will enhance our collection will be added for circulation. We sell items we don’t immediately need in one of our bi-annual sales or in our ongoing Friends Book Store on the Main Floor of the library. (See our Collection Development Policy.)
Donation guidelines
Here’s what we can use:
- Books (hardcover or paperback) in good condition
- Commercially published music on CD, or video on DVD and Blu Ray
- Audiobooks
- Framed art prints
- Rare or local books
Item’s we can not use:
- Damaged, defaced, stained, moldy, or smelly materials
- Outdated materials, including VHS and cassette tapes
- Non-commercially produced media
- Magazines or encyclopedia sets more than 3 years old
- Reader’s Digest condensed books
- Travel guides, textbooks, health, or technical books not older than 5 years
- Computer software or equipment
Items that are too dated or damaged to sell may get recycled. Books can be recycled in Marquette County in your weekly pickup. For more information, call the Reference Desk at 906/226-4312.
