…A Party and an Art Show!
Did you dress as a Wookie for Halloween? Do you have the Star Wars theme set as the ringtone on your phone? Do you spend copious amounts of time wondering just who Rey’s parents are and why they left her on Tatooine?  (What is it about that planet?)
Know that you are not alone in this universe.  We at The Library are also a bit Star Wars obsessed and are busy planning what we think will be the party of the new Star Wars movie release season. This all-ages event will include galactic crafts, games with Taiga, snacks in our Cantina, futuristic music by Jeremy Morelock and Denise Owens, on-site make-up artistry demonstration, a costume contest, and an art show in the MACC gallery. (See poster for more information.)
At this time, make sure you block off Friday, December 15 from 5-9:00 pm on your calendar.
You might also want to start creating if you’d like to enter the MACC art show.  Any artwork that embodies the spirit of Star Wars will be accepted in this week-long, non-juried show open to all ages and experience levels. All work must be submitted to the MACC by Wednesday December 12, 2017 before 5:00 p.m.
Specifications: No size limitation. All artistic mediums are welcomed. 2D works must be ready to hang, except for unframed art by youth ages 7-18 that may be adhered with tape. Number of pieces, per artist, will depend on the sizes and available space. Entry forms are available at the MACC or may be requested by email: arts-culture@marquettemi.gov.
