Come check out our new Local History Research Room on the top floor of the library. The research room offers a quiet place to do local history and genealogy research. It features several unique, local, and historical collections including our local history people and subject files, old issues of The Mining Journal, The Wes Perron Collection, Cloverland issues, The Lumberman’s, historical PWPL materials and much more. The space not only offers a nice environment to do research, but offers a more controlled environment for preserving. Being on the north side of the building, these materials are shielded from strong light and we can better control the temperature and humidity.
It will be open regularly on Wednesdays and Fridays from 2-6 PM. Of course, if you would like to view materials stored in the room, we are happy to pull them from the LHRR anytime that we are open. If you would like to use the room, you will need to fill out the LHRR Form. Book bags and purses must be checked at the door and no pens are allowed, in order to protect the materials. Questions? Let us know at refdesk@uproc.lib.mi.us or at 906-226-4309
