The Peter White Public Library will co-host to the first ever Winter Roots Festival, a folk-based music event sponsored by the PWPL, the Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center, Hiawatha Music Co-op, the Marquette Arts and Culture Center, the Marquette Area Blues Society, Travel Marquette, the Marquette DDA, Ore Dock, and the Marquette Symphony Orchestra.
This one day event, scheduled for Saturday, February 23 will include workshops, dancing, concerts and an evening concert with the Marquette Symphony Orchestra. Buttons for daytime events at the Library, the Marquette Commons and the Ore Dock cost $10 and are available for purchase at PWPL, the Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center and the Hiawatha Music Co-op.  Buttons can also be purchased at each venue on the day of the event. Tickets must be purchased separately for the evening Marquette Symphony Concert, Under Mountains of Ocean, featuring Youth Concerto Competition winner Evan Zegiel on Tuba and special guests, Westbound Situation, an Ann Arbor-based bluegrass quartet with violin, cello, bass and banjo.  Tickets available at NMU Ticket Outlets, online at tickets.nmu.edu and by phone at 906-227-1032.
