The Peter White Public Library plans to offer Curbside pickup of library materials, starting as soon as the Governor’s Orders allow, as part of our re-open plan. The re-open plan outlines six stages of reengagement with the community. The plan was adopted by the Board of Trustees at the May 19, 2020 Board Meeting. The library will enter into Stage 1 of the plan Tuesday, May 26, 2020. PWPL Director Andrea Ingmire anticipates they will roll into Stage 2 a week later on June 1st, followed by Stage 3, which kicks off Curbside Pickup of library materials, when the Governor’s Executive Order allows for curbside pickup at Michigan libraries. The reopen plan only applies if permitted by law or executive order.

“The Peter White Public Library staff is excited to get on the road to re-opening, said Ingmire. “The library is taking many steps to keep staff and patrons safe during these uncertain times, and we are confident that we can offer onsite curbside services in a safe and efficient manner.”

The following offers brief descriptions of what is offered in each stage of the plan. The complete plan is available at the bottom of this page.

STAGES 1 AND 2 – BUILDING PREPARATION
The first two stages of the plan cover staff and building considerations, such as training on social distancing and establishing procedures for quarantining and sanitizing materials. Staff will also use these first two stages to rearrange furniture, computers and workspaces.

STAGE 3 – CURBSIDE PICKUP
Curbside pickup will begin in Stage 3 of the plan. Once the curbside process is tested and running, staff will begin to accept the return of materials, which will all be quarantined for 72 hours before they’re available for reuse.

STAGE 4 – LIMITED BUILDING ACCESS
The library will reopen the doors to the public in Stage 4 with reduced hours. A limited number of patrons will be allowed in the building at any given time. Computer use will be offered on a limited basis, as well as access to areas of the building. Some areas will be in use for quarantine of returned materials.

STAGE 5 – IN-PERSON PROGRAMMING, LIMITED ACCESS
This is the stage where in-person library programs will restart, with limits on the number of participants. The library will operate with reduced hours.

STAGE 6 – OPEN FOR REGULAR BUSINESS
In this stage the library will fully reopen all parts of the buildings, and resume all services and programs without restrictions. Groups will also be able to reserve meetings rooms again.
