One of our board members, Dr. Carol Steinhaus, recently retired from Northern Michigan University. She has decided to use some of her buyout money to set up a matching grant to benefit Peter White Public Library.
Carol grew up in a small town in Kansas, and the library was one of her favorite places. She has fond memories of the building, the elderly librarian, the summer reading program, and the day she wondered whether she could read all of the books in the library!! The love of learning Carol originally developed with the services of her local library eventually led to her getting a doctoral degree. Carol sees providing this grant as a form of “giving back” to our library, hoping to foster that love of learning for other people.
Carol wants to support Marquette residents’ love of reading by providing funds that will strengthen the PWPL collections and our facilities. Carol believes that there is no more important skill than reading, and one of her greatest joys is enjoying a good book. She hopes that you’ll take advantage of her offer to “double your money” by contributing to the Steinhaus Challenge!!
