RESEARCH
Reference services differ from research. We are happy to provide reference help, free of charge. We are also happy to help with research for up to fifteen to twenty minutes. After that, we charge a fee. Types of research and fees are detailed below.
Types of research we conduct:
- Obituary requests
- Local history research
- Newspaper research
- Genealogy research
- Advertisement research
- Scanning and copying
To make a research request, please email us at refdesk@pwpl.info or call us at 906-226-4311 or 906-226-4312. Please allow 2 to 3 weeks for research to be completed.
Fees:
Obituary requests from “The Mining Journal” (limit of five per request):
If day, month, and year of death is known: $5 per obituary
If only month and year are known: $15 per obituary (search time limited to one hour)
If day of death is unknown, see research fees below.
For research that takes more than fifteen minutes, other research/scanning:
$25 per hour for up to two hours
Up to 10 photocopies and postage or 10 scans are included in the two hours research fee. After that, additional fees will be incurred at $.15 per page and/or scan. Payment is due regardless of whether research is successful.
If a research request takes more than two hours, we recommend visiting PWPL or contacting the Marquette Regional History Center.
